Before there was a google.com, there was a TEAS.co.uk. The tea domain was registered on 26 March 1997. Google’s address followed on 15 September that year, 173 calendar days later.
That puts the address in an earlier chapter of the web than the business now using it. The dates are still there in the domain registration records.
The current shop arrived in a different era. Shop At www.teas.co.uk Ltd was incorporated in October 2025, and its first website launched the following month. The old address and the young business now share a name.
There is something appealing about an address that says exactly what belongs there. TEAS.co.uk is now a specialist shop, with guides, recipes and product knowledge gathered around the subject in its name.
The next reader may be an assistant looking for information on someone’s behalf. We want the address to lead it to a useful source, just as we want it to lead a person to a useful shop.
The address has outlived several changes in how people find things online. The present business is preparing for another: customers arriving through assistants that have already done some of the research. A name registered in 1997 is becoming part of URSY’s plans for the agentic web.
